Prevent page hogging - ISBN Consolidation

If you have inventoried several items with different SKUs that share the same ISBN/UPC and Condition, you may be in violation of Marketplace Listing Policies. Most marketplaces now enforce strict rules about “page-hogging.”

We have developed a tool to help sellers protect themselves. We call this tool ISBN Consolidation. This is enabled per marketplace, so you can choose which marketplaces to use it for.

ISBN Consolidation does not change or delete the items you have in Fillz. It sends the items to the marketplaces using a different SKU system (we call these “consolidated SKUs”). Your old SKUs would still be in Fillz and nothing within your listings would be changed.

Fillz would use consolidated SKUs when sending inventory exports to a marketplace that has consolidation turned on. Any item that has an ISBN/UPC would be sent with a consolidated SKU, even if there is only one copy of the item in Fillz. This prevents page hogging in the event you add another listing for the item in the future. Consolidation is only done at the time of exporting data to a marketplace, so if you look at the Inventory page in your Fillz account, everything will be the same.

What you will notice for a change is how the SKUs and locations look in your orders. The orders will show the consolidated SKUs, and your locations will now display your real SKUs, as well as the locations of those SKUs.

Important notes:
  • While we recommend that you NEVER change the ISBN or condition of an existing listing, it is especially important for you not to do this if you are using ISBN Consolidation.
  • Consolidation is based on ISBN/ASIN/EAN/UPC and Condition only.
  • Non-catalog items will be sent to marketplaces with their regular SKUs.

How does it work?

  • You need to contact us if you wish to have this feature enabled. Because consolidation is enabled on a per marketplace basis, please specify which marketplaces you would like your items to be consolidated for in your email.
  • You MUST purge a marketplace after consolidation has been enabled. This will delete the listings from the marketplace that contain your own SKUs, as from that point forward Fillz will be sending out consolidated SKUs instead. **For eBay, you must remove all items listed by Fillz before consolidation is enabled, and then you can re-filter afterward in order to send the consolidated SKUs.
  • If you have items with the same ISBN/ASIN/EAN/UPC and same Condition, but they have different prices, the consolidated listings will appear on the markets with the highest price. If you would like us to use the lowest price, please request this in your email.
  • The logic we’re using to determine which note/description to send out for a marketplace that consolidation has been enabled for is based first on the highest quantity, and if the quantity is the same it’s based on the most recent item added to Fillz.
  • When you browse your inventory in Fillz, the items will appear the same. The consolidation occurs on export. Please see the “Orders” section below for clarification.

Items on a marketplace Before Consolidation:
 SKU: 000004 SKU: 000005 SKU: 000006 SKU: 02222007-FL
 ISBN: 0060765860 ISBN: 0060765860 ISBN: 0060765860 ISBN: 0060765860
 Condition:New Condition:New Condition:Very Good Condition:New
 Quantity: 1 Quantity: 1 Quantity: 1 Quantity: 1
 Price:20.00 Price:20.00 Price:20.00 Price:15.00

Items on a marketplace After Consolidation:
 SKU: Z0060765860ZN SKU: Z0060765860Z2
 ISBN: 0060765860 ISBN: 0060765860
 Condition:New Condition:Very Good
 Quantity: 3 Quantity: 1
 Price:20.00 Price:20.00

*Note that in the above example, there are two separate listings remaining on the marketplace because the items differ
materially from each other (they are different conditions). Also note that SKUs 000004, 000005 and 02222007-FL were rolled
into one consolidated SKU because these items have the same Condition and ISBN/UPC.

  • The only area you will see the consolidated SKU is in your orders page (unless you review the export logs to the marketplace). These SKUs are generated using the ISBN/UPC of your items sandwiched between two Z’s and either an N or the numeric value for your item’s condition (see examples below). Even though we are generating a new SKU for you, we are still decrementing your inventory without issue.
  • This is the logic we’re using to determine which of your SKUs to match to an order:
    • The item with the highest quantity number in Fillz will be matched first.
    • If quantities are the same, the item the highest location number (lexically highest location, location Z1 picked before location A1).
    • If the quantities and location data are the same, the item with the oldest Open Date is matched to the order.
  • You will notice that the data in the location field will appear differently. It will be a combination of your original SKU, the location of the original SKU, and the quantity of SKU ordered. It will appear in the following format: YourSKU@YourLocation: Quantity of item in the Order. See the location field below for an example.
